Our research group celebrates a collaborative, team-oriented environment. The principles of Amazon’s leadership, which emphasize customer obsession, ownership, and a bias for action, resonate with our vision of a academic research group that is dynamic, inclusive, and impactful.
The group operation is driven by its North Star goal – building automated experiment in microscopy for understanding, optimizing, and designing materials – and three tenets. The North Star defines the selection of individual projects and their connectedness. The tenets provide the principles for planning own and collaborative research. These are:
- Unified Team, Individual Triumphs: “While our individual projects shine, our brilliance is magnified through teamwork.” In our group, we celebrate individual achievements, recognizing that each success contributes to our collective strength. Collaboration is our cornerstone, where diverse ideas and perspectives intertwine to drive innovation and excellence.
- Time is Our Most Precious Asset: “We respect not just our time but the time of others.” Our commitment to timely delivery reflects our understanding that time is invaluable. By meeting deadlines and maintaining efficiency, we honor the trust placed in us by our collaborators and scientific community in general, ensuring that our work is both relevant and impactful.
- Delivering Research that Resonates Beyond Academia: “Our goal is to extend the reach of our research from the lab to the lives it impacts.” We are dedicated to producing work that goes beyond theoretical knowledge, focusing on applications that address real-world challenges. Integral to this mission is our commitment to regularly publish and share our findings, bridging the gap between academic research and practical implementation.
